The ag industry reports that agents turned up at packing facilities and farms.

There were apparently some ICE/Border Patrol operations in Ventura County on Tuesday, focusing on workers in the agricultural community.

"I woke up this morning to dozens of messages that ICE had tried to enter several packing facilities and were in the (agricultural) fields pursuing fieldworkers, and stopping people on the road on their way to work," said Maureen McGuire, CEO of the Farm Bureau of Ventura County.

There is no word on how many people might have been arrested or detained, and ICE has not responded to KCLU’s request for information.

It was big news during a Santa Barbara rally to support undocumented immigrants and denounce the actions being taken by ICE and the Border Patrol. More than 200 people were on hand for the lunch hour event.

The rally had been planned before Tuesday's operations, but many of those who spoke said it's why people need to stand up to deportations at the local level in the Tri-Counties.
