Firefighters quickly knock down brush fire on Central Coast

Blaze burned southeast of Santa Maria, in Cat Canyon area.

Santa Barbara County firefighters quickly knocked down a brush fire burning in the hills southeast of Santa Maria.

The blaze was reported in the Cat Canyon area at around 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Santa Barbara County firefighters aided by aircraft stopped the spread of the fire in less than an hour.

No structures were damaged. There's no word on the cause of the fire. It burned about five acres of brush.
