The CHP is trying to figure out why a man was running across a section of Highway 101 in Ventura County. He was hit, and seriously injured.

Traffic disrupted for hours on Thursday afternoon by the incident in Oxnard.

Investigators are trying to figure out exactly what led to a traffic accident which disrupted traffic on a part of Highway 101 in Ventura County for seven hours.

CHP officers were called to Highway 101’s Rose Avenue overcrossing just after three Thursday afternoon by reports of a man running in traffic lanes. Officers spotted Javier Dominguez just as he climbed over the center divider of the freeway, going from the northbound to southbound side of the highway.

The 49-year-old man was immediately hit by a southbound truck. Dominguez was seriously injured. The driver of the truck was unhurt.

As a result of the emergency response and investigation, the southbound 101 was closed until about 10 p.m., with traffic routed around the scene on surface streets.
