Allan Hancock College is expecting to help around a thousand eligible students with a year’s free tuition.

They call it the Hancock Promise – and it’s a way to help promising students on the Central Coast with the costs of higher education.

"The Hancock Promise provides our local high school graduates with a year's free tuition", explained Lauren Milbourne from Hancock College.

She told KCLU that the help with tuition costs can remove one of the biggest barriers to a college education.

"This can be absolutely life-changing for the students and their family," she said.

Hancock College is hosting two registration rallies over two days, on April 28 at the Santa Maria campus from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., and on April 29 at the Lompoc Valley Center from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

These Promise Registration rallies will be a one-stop shop where students can create their first-semester plan, register for full-time courses and have their financial aid file reviewed by the Hancock staff.
