The Tri-Counties has the dubious distinction of having two areas on a list of the most expensive apartment rental rates in the nation.
A new survey by the residential rental marketplace Dwellsy shows two of the top ten most expensive markets for one-bedroom apartment rentals are in the Tri-Counties.
Topping the list is the Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta statistical area. The survey shows a median one-bedroom apartment cost of $2186. That’s up 1.7% in the last year.
The Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura statistical area is also on the most expensive in the nation list, coming in fifth. It shows the average monthly one-bedroom rental rate is $1,850.
There is one bit of good news. Experts with the Dwellsy survey say they expect rental rates to remain flat, with more units becoming available, slightly easing the supply and demand problem.
