San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's deputies say driver ignored road closed signs, but vehicle became stuck in river.

It was a harrowing experience for a mother and her three kids, as they were trapped in a car in a rain swollen Central Coast river.

It happened just after six Thursday night, in northern San Luis Obispo County. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's deputies say a woman ignored a road closed sign on North River Road near San Miguel, and tried to cross the Estrella River.

The car became stuck in the floodwaters. The woman called for help.

A deputy waded through waist-deep water to rescue the three kids, and then returned to help get the mother safely to shore.
