A dragon flew through the skies of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties Thursday. It sounds like a joke, but it happened.
Santa Monica Pier's Pacific Park retired its popular Sea Dragon ride. The 26 foot long seating area of the popular attraction was flown by helicopter from Santa Monica to the Port of Hueneme, for shipment to a museum.
So, people who happened to be along the coast Thursday morning might have seen what looked like a two headed dragon being carried by a helicopter. It has dragon heads on both sides of the passenger carriage.
The Sea Dragon carried more than 12 million passengers during its time at the pier. But, fans have nothing to worry about. It's been replaced by a new version of the Sea Dragon. The original Sea Dragon is headed to a museum in St. Louis.
