It was a close call for a Ventura County motorist trapped by flooding from the big storm sweeping the region.

The driver was trapped by floodwaters on Ladera Ridge Road, northeast of Ojai just after 10 p.m. Friday. Firefighters were unable to get to the stranded person, so a Ventura County helicopter was called in to help.

A rescue swimmer was lowered to the roof of the vehicle. The swimmer pulled the driver out of the vehicle, and they were both hoisted to safety.
