Part of Ventura's Harmon Canyon closed by the January storms has reopened.

Section of Ventura's Harmon Canyon Preserve reopens.

Just in time for the holiday weekend, part of a popular land preserve in Ventura County closed by January’s storms has reopened.

The Ventura Land Trust reopened the southern third of the Harmon Canyon Preserve to the public Saturday.

It’s open from the entrance area to the 1.5 mile marker on Harmon Canyon Road. The upper portion of the preserve is still closed for repairs. The trails in the lower canyon are open.

The Land Trust reports that its Ventura preserves suffered about $300,000 in storm damage. The trust is trying to raise money to cover repair costs.
