A Santa Barbara County man is accused of fatally injuring his girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter.

On February 4, Santa Barbara firefighters received a 9-1-1 requesting help. Someone reported a little girl had fallen out of bed, and hurt herself.

The first responders discovered the three-year-old girl wasn’t breathing. They started CPR, and took her to a hospital. But, she was pronounced dead.

Santa Barbara Police detectives, and the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s office investigated the death. They say the evidence showed it was a homicide. After further investigation, they arrested the boyfriend of the little girl’s mother. 25-year-old Elvis Alberto Lopez is charged with murder.
