A Simi Valley man is headed to federal prison after being convicted of stealing more than a million dollars in COVID-19 business relief funds.

Prosecutors say he stole more than a million dollars intended to help businesses struggling as a result of the pandemic.

A Ventura County man received a four year plus federal prison sentence after being convicted of fraudulently getting more than a million dollars in COVID-19 relief funds.

Prosecutors say Manuel Asadurian teamed up with another man to get federal disaster relief funds intended to help businesses impacted by the pandemic.

But, they say the duo submitted false information about the number employees affected, the expenses involved, and amount of money lost due to the crisis. The 66-year-old Simi Valley man pled guilty to one count of wire fraud.

In addition to the 51 month prison sentence, Asadurian was ordered to pay nearly $1.1 million in restitution.
