Maybe you saw it. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying a payload of more than 50 satellites successfully took off from the Central Coast Tuesday morning.
It took place on the fourth attempt. SpaceX was set to launch the rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base Sunday. It was moved to Monday morning, and then Monday afternoon before being rescheduled to Tuesday morning.
The launch team wanted more time for preflight checks.
Liftoff finally happened at 8:15 a.m. The rocket carried 49 small communications satellites, as well as a satellite deployment system with additional small satellites into orbit. The reusable first stage booster landed safely on a barge off the coast of Baja California.
