Both dogs reported to be okay, despite floating about a mile downstream in fast-moving creek.

Some Santa Barbara County firefighters went above and beyond the call of duty, as they rescued two dogs caught in a creek filled with fast moving water from this week's big storm.

It happened Thursday morning, in San Jose Creek next to South Kellogg Avenue in Goleta. The dogs got caught in swift water, floating downstream for about a mile.

Firefighters used ropes to reach, and rescue one of the dogs. The second dog climbed onto a chunk of cement in the middle of the creek. Three firefighters made their way out to the little island, and got the dog to safety.

Both dogs are reporting to be okay, despite their ordeal. There no word on how they ended up in the creek. They were reunited with their owner.
