Gaviota's Safety Roadside Rest Areas are reopening Thursday

The Gaviota Roadside Rest Areas on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County reopen Thursday.

A key roadside area in the Tri-Counties that's been closed for months due to renovations is reopening Thursday, just in time for holiday travel.

The Gaviota Safety Roadside Rest Areas on Highway 101 have undergone major repairs. A new water line was installed, the wastewater and electrical systems overhauled, a new water storage tank was added, and a crew building was built onsite.

The project began in June of 2021, and cost $5.5 million dollars.
