It was a close race, but a recount in a mayor's race in the Tri-Counties didn't change the results

A recount came up with the same results as those initially reported in the Ojai Mayor's race

A recount in the Ojai Mayor's race came up with the same winner. In fact, there was no change between the intial results and the recount numbers.

It was a close election in Ventura County—close enough that the candidate who appeared to have lost wanted a recount. But, it turned to be an expensive lesson in how accurate the Elections Division was in handling the ballots.

The certified results for the election were announced on December 7th. They showed incumbent Ojai Mayor Elizabeth Stix defeating challenger Anson Williams by 42 votes.

Williams wanted a recount. It cost just over $28,000, which required an $8,000 deposit and then a daily rate of $5500. The recount numbers were released Wednesday, and to a vote they were the same as the initial numbers. Stix had 1823 votes, while Williams had 1781.

If Williams' name sounds familiar, it's because he's an actor and director best known to the public for playing "Potsie" in the TV sitcom "Happy Days."
