The star of one of the biggest movies of the year is going to be honored at the upcoming Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Angela Bassett will receive the 2023 festival’s Montecito Award. Bassett stars in the Marvel Studios blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her career as an actress, director, and producer includes acclaimed movies like “Waiting to Exhale,” “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It.”

Past winners of the award include Oprah Winfrey, Daniel Day-Lewis, Kate Winslet, and Julianne Moore.

Bassett will be honored on February 9, as part of the 38th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The 2023 Festival runs from February 8 through 18.
