The Ventura City Council decided Monday night to put City Manager Alex McIntyre on paid administrative leave, effective immediately. The announcement came after a closed session.

In a brief statement, Ventura City Attorney Andy Heglund says the City Council voted 7-0 to take the action. There’s no word on exactly what prompted the action. In the statement, Heglund said McIntyre would be on paid administrative leave pending the Council’s direction on a private personnel matter.

Ventura’s Assistant City Manager Akbar Alikhan has been appointed as Acting City Manager.
