Hundreds expected at Saturday's event at Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

Halloween weekend is at hand, and with it comes a fun global dance event which you can take part in here in the Tri-Counties. People around the world will be dancing to the song “Thriller” at 2 p.m. our time Saturday.

One of the biggest local events will be at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. It’s the twelfth year the non-profit group “World Dance For Humanity” is sponsoring the Santa Barbara event.

"We are gathering at the Sunken Gardens as part of something called 'Thrill the World,' a global celebration of life, of community," said Janet Reineck, who's the organization’s Executive Director. People can come starting at noon, where some Santa Barbara City College cosmetology students will be doing makeup for anyone who wants it.

The event is about more than fun. It’s also a fundraiser for education. "We do this to support our education in Rwanda, as well as our program at the Westside Boys and Girls Club (in Santa Barbara).

This year’s event is dedicated to Nichole Greenwood, a member of the dance company who died in a traffic collision this week.
