Police looking for driver of car in fatal hit-and-run collision on South Coast

A man was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle Monday. The driver fled the scene of the collision in Oxnard, and is still being sought.

Man died at hospital after being hit in Oxnard.

What started as a hit-and-run investigation on the South Coast has now potentially turned into a murder case.

Oxnard Police were called to the area of Ventura Road, and Ninth Street around one Monday morning by reports of someone being hit by a vehicle. They found a seriously injured man. He was taken to a hospital, but now, there’s word he died.

The man’s identity hasn’t been released yet.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Investigators are looking for witnesses and surveillance video from the area which might help identify the vehicle, and ultimately the driver.
