Pilot of ultralight aircraft seriously injured in crash at South Coast airport

An ultralight aircraft crashed into some hangars at Camarillo Airport Thursday afternoon, seriously injuring the pilot.

An ultralight aircraft crashed into some hangars at Camarillo Airport Thursday afternoon, seriously injuring the pilot.

Ventura County firefighters had to extricate pilot from wreckage of plane at Camarillo Airport.

The pilot of an ultralight aircraft was seriously injured in a crash at a Ventura County airport.

The aircraft went down just before 2 p.m. Thursday at Camarillo Airport. It crashed onto the roof of a small hangar. The pilot was trapped in the wreckage. The building was only about as tall as a garage, so Ventura County firefighters were able to easily reach and rescue the trapped pilot.

Firefighters then flew the injured flyer by helicopter to the Ventura County Medical Center.

There's no word on what led to the crash. The name of the pilot hasn't been released.
