A Minuteman III missile is launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base early Tuesday night.

First intercontinental ballistic missile test launch of year from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

It was a spectacular sight on the Central Coast.

A Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base early Tuesday morning. The 12:46 a.m. launch was the latest in an ongoing series of test flights to check equipment and crew readiness.

The missile carried a dummy warhead more than four thousand miles to a test range in the South Pacific.

The launch had actually been planned for a few weeks ago, but was postponed because the Biden Administration didn't want to inflame already high tension with China.
