Friday's SpaceX launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base boosts 46 satellites into orbit.

With a huge roar, a rocket carrying more than 40 communications satellites successfully took off from the Central Coast Friday afternoon.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 2:40 p.m. Maybe you saw it. It was visible throughout much of the Tri-Counties.

The rocket carried 46 Starlink satellites into orbit, as part of a growing global network intended to provide internet service to underserved parts of the world.
