Water and wastewater service rates are going up in the City of Camarillo.

Camarillo residents will be paying 2% more for water, 4% more for wastewater service.

A South Coast city has announced that its residential and business customers will soon be paying more for water, and wastewater service.

The City of Camarillo is raising its water rates by 2%, and sewer service by 4%. They will go from around $106 a month in the 2022 fiscal year for the average home, to around $111 a month in 2023.

City official say the move came after nearly a year of public meetings and a community town hall. They say the hikes are needed to cover maintenance as well as upgrades to the water, and wastewater systems.

Even after the hikes, the city’s rates will remain among the lowest in Ventura County. The hikes take effect July 1. More rate hikes are projected for the next few years to keep pace with the costs of running, and maintaining the systems.
