Police released this fuzzy image of a mountain lion spotted in a Ventura County neighborhood Thursday.

No injuries reported from visit by big cat.

A South Coast elementary school was placed on lockdown after a mountain lion was spotted in a nearby neighborhood.

The mountain lion was spotted at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday on the 300 block of Royal Avenue in Simi Valley.

The 100 plus pound mountain lion was then seen on the 1300 block of Carmel Drive. As a precaution, nearby Madera Elementary School was put on lockdown. But, it was a minimum day so there weren’t a lot of students on campus.

Police looked for the mountain lion, but were apparently unable to find it.
