Central, South Coast unemployment continues to dip

Numbers around pre-pandemic levels; San Luis Obispo Couty drops below 3%

The unemployment rate on the Central and South Coast has dropped to pre-pandemic levels.

The latest State Employment Development Department numbers show Ventura County’s jobless rate went from 3.5% in March, to an even 3% in April.

Santa Barbara County had an even bigger drop, going from 3.6% to 2.8%.

And, the San Luis Obispo County unemployment rate also dipped, going from 2.8% in March to 2.4% last month.

The state’s numbers are also improving, sliding from 4.8% in March to 4.6% in April. California has picked up more than a million payroll jobs in the last year.
