Ventura County is now reporting 1500 COVID-19 related deaths, and San Luis Obispo County topped 500, reaching 501.

Ventura County hits 1500 COVID-19 related deaths; San Luis Obispo County tops 500 mark.

The latest surge in COVID-19 cases on the Central and South Coast has pushed the region to some grim milestones.

Two additional deaths in Ventura County during the last week meant the county’s COVID-related death toll since the start of the pandemic hit. 1500 people.

And, four additional deaths in San Luis Obispo County in the last week pushed that county’s total past the 500 mark, to 501. Santa Barbara County has had 687 deaths related to the virus since the start of the pandemic. The Tri-Counties total now stands at 2688 deaths.

All three counties are reporting increasing numbers of new cases, but it hasn’t reached the point where mandatory health restrictions like masking have been reimplemented.
