Two teens facing arson charges following fire at South Coast high school.

Sunday blaze heavily damages school cafeteria

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with an arson fire which damaged a South Coast high school.

Oxnard Police and firefighters were called to Hueneme High School just before 1 a.m. Sunday by reports of a fire. They arrived to find flames and smoke coming from the school’s cafeteria. The blaze was contained in about 20 minutes, but not before it caused extensive damage.

Oxnard Police detectives used surveillance video to identify a pair of teenagers as suspects in the blaze. Officers spotted them Sunday afternoon, and arrested them on arson and burglary charges,

Despite the damage to the cafeteria, the campus will be open Sunday.
