A brush fire started in the hills northwest of Goleta Saturday afternoon .

Blaze reported to be in Winchester Canyon area, near some ranches, but firefighters say they are getting upper hand on fire.

Santa Barbara County firefighters are battling a brush fire burning in the hills northwest of Goleta Saturday afternoon.

The blaze was discovered just after 4 p.m. between Winchester Canyon, and Glen Annie Road. It was reported to be around five acres of brush.

Firefighters are dealing with temperatures in the 80's, and light wind in the area.

There are some ranches in the area.

By 5 p.m. firefighters reported they were getting the upper hand on the blaze. It burned about five acres of brush, with the potential to eventually grow to around ten acres.
