Brush fire causes scare in Santa Barbara County, but firefighters knock it down quickly

A brush fire briefly threatened some ranches and homes in the Santa Ynez Valley Wednesday.

A brush fire briefly threatened some ranches and homes in the Santa Ynez Valley Wednesday.

Wednesday afternoon blaze stopped before it can reach ranches, homes.

Firefighters quickly knocked down a brush fire near some ranches, and homes in Santa Barbara County.

The fire was reported at about one p.m., on the 1200 block of Quail Ridge Road in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Santa Barbara County firefighters aided by a helicopter quickly got a handle on the blaze. No evacuations were needed. Just under four acres of land was charred.

Crews were mopping up the fire by around 2 p.m. No structures were reporting damaged. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
