Simi Valley Police officers encounter a man believed to be murder suspect — he was wanted in Los Angeles.

An effort to arrest a man believed to be a murder suspect turned into a fatal officer involved shooting in Ventura County.

The Los Angeles Police Department notified Simi Valley Police Thursday night that a murder suspect might be in Simi Valley.

Some officers spotted the man believed to be the suspect near First Street and Los Angeles Avenue. They say the man opened fire with a gun, and they returned fire, killing him.

No one else was hurt. The name of the man hasn’t been released yet.
