Oxnard hits 99 degrees Thursday; Santa Barbara peaks at 92, with both high temperatures setting new records.

How hot was it Thursday? It was record setting on parts of the Central and South Coasts, and it could be close to that again Friday.

Camarillo set an all-time record for April 7, hitting 98 degrees. That breaks a record of 92 in 1989.

Oxnard reached 99, topping the old record of 92.

And, Santa Barbara also set a new record for April 7, with a high of 92 topping the 1989 record of 91 degrees.

The high pressure ridge which caused the heat wave is finally breaking down, but it will remain hot for much of the region. Coastal areas will start off hot, but a return of the sea breeze could cool things down Friday afternoon.

Meteorologists say we will definitely see major cooling as we move through the weekend.
