Commuter rail service adds more than two dozen trains to Southern California routes, getting back to near pre-pandemic levels.

The commuter rail line serving parts of the South Coast beefed up service this week, returning to near pre-pandemic levels. Metrolink has added 26 trains to its Southern California routes, with six serving Ventura County.

It’s been a rough two years for Metrolink because of the pandemic. With people returning to workplaces, ridership has rebounded, but it’s still less than 50% of pre-pandemic levels.

It’s expected to get a big boost with the resumption of more service on a number of routes.

In Ventura County, additional morning and evening trains to and from LA were added this week. And, the service update makes Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains available to Metrolink riders on Saturdays and Sundays in Ventura County.
