Santa Barbara Police blocked off part of Lower State Street Monday as part of the investigation of a suspicious death.

Woman's body discovered in parking lot of Santa Barbara business Monday morning.

An investigation is underway into what's being called a suspicious death on the South Coast.

The body of a woman was discovered Monday morning in the parking lot of a business near the intersection of State Street, and Cabrillo Boulevard in Santa Barbara.

Police say it appears the body is that of a homeless woman possibly in her 40's or 50's. There's no word on her name. Detectives say the woman was dead when she was discovered, but they aren't talking about why they are calling the death suspicious.
