Ventura County
Longtime Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn has died.

John Flynn served more than three decades on the board.

Ventura County is remembering a man who dedicated his life to serving the community. Longtime Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn has died. Flynn served eight four-year terms as a County Supervisor representing the Oxnard area.

He was a schoolteacher in the community in the 1960’s. Flynn was first elected as a County Supervisor in 1972, and eventually served 32 years on the board.

He was an old-fashioned politician who would go door-to-door in his district. Flynn was an outspoken advocate of what he believed was right, often clashing with his fellow board members during his last few years in office.

Flynn had been in the hospital for the last few weeks. He died of natural causes. There’s no word yet on plans for a memorial service. Flynn was 89 years old.
