A Ventura County man wanted for a murder six month ago in Oxnard has finally been arrested.

Suspect had fled to Central California, but detectives caught up with him when he returned to Ventura County.

There’s been an arrest in a six-month-old murder case on the South Coast.

Jorge Hernandez Maldonado was fatally stabbed in Oxnard’s Del Sol Park last August.

Oxnard Police detectives identified a suspect in the case. But, they learned the man, Edgar Mendoza, had fled to Central California. They worked with authorities in Merced County to try to track down the wanted 36-year-old man.

Investigators learned Mendoza had recently returned to Ventura County. He was arrested this week, and remains in the Ventura County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
