COVID-19 new case numbers still high in San Luis Obispo County, but improved over recent weeks.

San Luis Obispo County's COVID-19 related death toll surpasses 400.

San Luis Obispo County is reporting a large amount of COVID-19 cases, but there’s also indications that the county’s Omicron surge may have peaked.

The county had 3,852 new cases in the last week. It’s down from recent weekly totals of more than 5,000.

But, the county also reached a grim milestone. Four more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the county Tuesday, pushing the total since the start of the pandemic over the 400 mark, to 402.

Santa Barbara County’s new case numbers continue to drop, with 380 reported Tuesday. There were five additional deaths reported in the county. Ventura County will issue its next updated numbers Wednesday.
