Ventura County reports more than 8400 new COVID-19 cases

The number of diagnosed COVID-19 cases on the Central and South Coasts topped the 200,000 mark this week.

The number of diagnosed COVID-19 cases in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties combined topped 11,000 from Friday through Monday.

Santa Barbara County tops 2700 for same Friday though Monday period.

Public Health officials on the Central and South Coast are hoping that we’re on the downhill side of the COVID-19 surge, but the percentage of people testing positive for the virus remains high.

Ventura County is reporting 8,484 additional cases since Friday.

The positivity test rate among those being checked at official test sites is at 21%.

The county is offering a new incentive for unvaccinated people to get their first or second Pfizer or Moderna vaccination. People getting the shots at Ventura County Public Health tests sites will received a $25.00 gift card, while supplies last.

Santa Barbara County has had 2,773 cases reported since Friday. The county’s positivity test rate is at 23%. San Luis Obispo County is scheduled to release its next update of COVID-19 numbers Tuesday.
