The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office released some never before seen video and audio from the deadly 2018 Borderline Bar And Grill attack in Thousand Oaks which left 12 people dead.
The footage from cameras worn by deputies, and the 911 audio recordings were released after the Associated Press, and some other news outlets went to court seeking access to them under public records laws.
The contents of the recordings were detailed in a 400 page report on the rampage released last summer, but much of the actual video and audio wasn’t made public.
The recordings included 911 calls from people inside the bar whispering to dispatchers as the attack was still underway. Video from deputy body cams showed panicked people fleeing the bar. The gunman killed himself soon after the first officers entered the bar. A clear motive for the attack was never established.
