A Santa Barbara County Supervisor has announced he's running for the State Assembly seat representing Santa Barbara County.

Gregg Hart will seek newly configured 37th District Assembly Seat.

A Santa Barbara County Supervisor has announced he plans to run for a newly reconstituted State Assembly District in the region.

Gregg Hart is running for the 37th District Assembly seat. The Democrat has a long history of public service, serving as a Santa Barbara City Councilman and on the State Coastal Commission.

The modified 37th district includes Santa Barbara County, and part of southern San Luis Obispo County.

Current 37th District Assemblyman Steve Bennett has been shifted into the 38th District by redistricting. It’s mainly focused on western Ventura County. There’s no word yet on whether he will seek the rejiggered seat.
