A long-awaited shipment of COVID-19 test kits for public school students in Santa Barbara County has arrived. The Santa Barbara County Education Office received more than 56,000 of the kits, which will go to school districts across the county for distribution to families.

Each one of the kits contains two tests. The agency is trying to get additional kits for private schools, preschools, and for school employees.

The state ordered millions of the kits with the intention of getting them to families across California during the winter break, but there were major logical delays.

Ventura County’s Office of Education received more than 130,000 of the kits last week.
