Santa Barbara County has more than 500 new cases, and San Luis Obispo County tops 100.

The latest new COVID-19 case numbers for the Central and South Coasts show the region’s surge is continuing to grow at an alarming rate.

Santa Barbara County reported 516 new cases Tuesday. The County’s positivity rate for testing is at nearly 20%, which means one out of five

people being tested is positive for a form of the virus.

San Luis Obispo County had 101 documented new cases Tuesday. County public health officials say they’ve had more than 1500 new cases since Thursday. They are calling it their fastest, steepest surge since the start of the pandemic.

Ventura County releases its numbers on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
