The annual Rose Parade float created by students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Cal Poly Pomona received the parade's annual animation award.
The 2022 float was called "Stargrazers," and it payed tribute to the classic Mother Goose fairy tale "Hey Diddle Diddle." The float featured a cow jumping over the moon, but this cow was wearing a jetpack.
More than 80 students from both campuses worked on the float. It was seen by an estimated 70 million people around the world on television.
The float makers made a last minute addition to the float to pay tribute to pro football legend John Madden, who died over the holidays. Madden played football at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo., and was a Cal Poly graduate.
