COVID-19 outbreak continues to grow at South Coast jail

The latest COVID-19 outbreak at the Main Santa Barbara County Jail has left nearly 60 people infected.

The latest COVID-19 outbreak at the Main Santa Barbara County Jail has left nearly 60 people infected.

59 cases now reported at Main Santa Barbara County Jail, but most inmates with the virus are asymptomatic.

The numbers continue to grow from the latest COVID-19 outbreak at a South Coast jail.

An additional 35 inmates at the Main Santa Barbara County Jail have tested positive for the virus. It brings the total to 59 since the new outbreak was detected December 9.

It started in a dorm-like area of the jail which houses about 50 inmates.

Of the 59 identified inmates with the virus, 50 are asymptomatic. None of them have needed to be hospitalized.
