Unemployment continues to drop on Central, South Coasts

State's unemployment continues to drop, but still one of the highest percentages in nation

State also continues to improve, but jobless rate still one of highest in nation.

Just-released numbers show that unemployment is continuing to drop on the Central and South Coasts.

In Ventura County, the jobless rate went from 5% in October to 4.4% in November. Santa Barbara County’s unemployment rate dipped from 4.4% to 3.9%. And, San Luis Obispo County has the lowest out-of-work percentage in the region, moving from 4.3% in October to 3.6% last month.

The statewide jobless rate is still one of the highest in the nation, at 6.9% in November. But, it’s down from 7.3% in October.
