Magnitude 3.4 quake Wednesday night hits near Carpinteria

An earthquake rattled parts of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.

The magnitude 3.4 quake occurred at 10:38 Wednesday night. It was centered in the ocean about five miles southeast of Carpinteria.

There was no damage reported. People reported feeling the quake from the Santa Ynez Valley to parts of eastern Ventura County.
