South Coast post office evacuated after man claims his backpack contains a bomb

Police say the main Oxnard Post Office was evacuated Sunday after a man entered with a backpack, and claimed to have a bomb in it. He didn't have explosives in it.

Investigators are trying to figure out why a man entered a South Coast post office with a backpack, and claimed he had a bomb.

It happened Sunday afternoon, at the main Oxnard Post Office on C Street.

The post office was evacuated. There was a short standoff before Oxnard Police took Glenn Stombres into custody,

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was called to the scene, and determined there was nothing dangerous in the backpack. Police are working with the U.S. Postal Service to determine the charges the 52-year-old Oxnard man will be facing.
