It was a crazy scene at a store on the South Coast, where a celebrity helped some families get an early start to the gift giving season.

Comedian Kevin Hart and Sam’s Club teamed up Monday to treat ten families from the Los Angeles-based Special Needs Network with a holiday shopping spree in Ventura County.

The event at the Sam’s Club in Oxnard capped a week in which five non-profits nationwide received $100,000 each from Hart and the big box retailer.

Hart helped the families pick out thousands of dollars worth of free gifts at the Ventura County store.
