Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies say they've nabbed one thief in Montecito.

It’s the time of year for gifts, and gift giving. But, law enforcement officials on the Central and South Coasts are warning people to be on the lookout for grinches who are intercepting, and stealing package.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies say they arrested a Los Angeles man who stole packages from multiple homes in the Montecito area Sunday.

They say an alert East Mountain Drive resident saw the man, and was able to give deputies a good description of the thief, who was caught before he left the area.

Detectives say this is a good time to remember some home safety basics.

They say make sure your home is well lit at night, your doors and windows are secured, and that packages and mail are picked up quickly.
