Two Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies went above the call of duty, when they rescued a woman from a burning building.
It happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, on Orange Avenue in Goleta.
Two deputies were the first to arrive on the scene of an apartment fire.
They found an unconscious woman inside the burning apartment, and carried her to safety.
Paramedics began to treat the woman, who was taken to a hospital.
The two deputies were also taken to a hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. They were released a few hours later.
Santa Barbara County firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a single unit, and keeping it from spreading to neighboring apartments.
