System back online just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Santa Barbara County's 911 system was out of service for about two hours Tuesday afternoon.

The county reported that its ability to receive 911 calls went down just before 3 p.m. There’s no word on what caused the problem. The dispatch center was fully functional, except for its ability to receive 911 calls. County officials say 911 was back in operation by 5 p.m.

People in Santa Barbara County needing emergency services were directed to a landline number during the outage.
